About Us

Our Vision

We aim for children in our care to learn and develop to their full potential through a wide and stimulating range of activities and opportunities, tailored to each child’s individual needs and learning style.

We celebrate each child’s uniqueness and developing personality in a multicultural, social environment, where an independent spirit is encouraged and curiosity and confidence are nurtured to ensure a life-long love of learning, making future transitions through the learning journey as seamless as possible.

We empower children by respecting and supporting their choices with careful guidance.

Our Values

•Strong Relationships – we believe in parents as their child’s primary educators, and they are, as such, an integral part of what we do.  We actively seek, encourage and welcome input from parents, other carers and professionals to enable their child to have a successful Preschool experience.  We foster meaningful, nurturing relationships with children through our Key Person system.

•Professionalism, commitment and experience – our team is incredibly well qualified and experienced in the learning and development of young children, most with children who have been through the Preschool process.  We are always enthusiastic, encouraging and open to new ideas.

•Inclusivity – we are inclusive of all children, yet respect and encourage individuality.  We do this through careful observation and assessment of each child’s needs, taking into account their strengths and abilities, and then plan experiences and opportunities which allow all children to partake, with a level of support specific to them.

•Fundamentally British – we actively promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs in a child-appropriate way using playful learning experiences.

•Child-centred – everything we do is for the child, his or her well-being, learning and development.

Gill is a qualified teacher and taught in Primary schools in Bristol before having her children William and Sophie. She has managed a Preschool in Bentley Heath for 13 years which had received two ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted inspection reports. She is a passionate early years’ educator and enthusiastic about community run provisions.

Louise joined Preschool in 2013 after completing a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.  She has an interest in musical games/activities and cooking.  Louise is very popular with the children and we often refer to her as the “Pied Piper” as she always has a group of children following her around!

Louise became part of the team in October 2014 after gaining a L3 Teaching Assistant qualification and has recently completed a Level 3 Early Years Children’s and workforce qualification.

Louise is a qualified graphic designer and puts her skills to good use creating Preschool displays and marketing material.  She lives in Meriden with her children, Harley and Samuel.

Nicky has a L3 Early Years Workforce qualification. She joined the pre-school having worked at Gill’s previous preschool and working as an ‘outstanding’ rated childminder. She has two children and a dog called Gary!

Nicky is our Behavioural Management lead and is Paediatric first aid trained. Nicky is particularly passionate about providing enriching experiences.

Becky is a L3 qualified teaching assistant who has lived in the village for 16 years. She has three children and a very well trained dog! When not working at the Preschool, she works as a dog walker and can often be seen walking around the park and village.

Becky works with great enthusiasm and shows lots of care towards our children.

The Preschool Committee

As we are a charity organisation, we are managed by an elected committee. The committee is made up of parents of present, past and future pupils of the preschool. These parents are usually local to the village which forges strong links to the community. Time is given voluntarily and the members all work extremely hard.

The committee meets monthly to discuss issues regarding management, Ofsted, staffing and finances of the preschool. The committee also arranges activities to raise money for much needed resources.

The committee as of September 2020 comprises:

Chair: Sammy Bull

Treasurer: Erika Andre

Secretary: Laura Burt

Nominated Persons: Lucy Shoebotham

The preschool is registered with and is regularly inspected by Ofsted - the Office for Standards in Education. In our most recent inspection, which took place in December 2018, we were graded 'Good'. The inspection report can be found on the Ofsted website.
